Ancient Civilization / High Technology Researchers, Organizations & Websites

Researchers, Organizations, and Websites Specializing in Lost Ancient High Technology / Civilizations

Below is a list of researchers and websites who specialize, at least in part, on unearthing the secrets of long lost and/or ancient civilizations. Many in the list are researchers who work hard to show how the ancients were in possession of a high technology and were far more advanced than the prevailing paradigm espouses, a perspective most diametrically opposed to that of mainstream archaeology and anthropology.

Ancient Origins
   – “Reconstructing the Story of Humanity’s Past”

This is an impressive site, containing a large number of quality articles written by their own staff as well as guests. For example, the excellent article on the Piri Reis Map was written by Rand and Rose Flem-Ath. Subjects covered include ancient history, artifacts, myths, archaeology, mysterious phenomena, human origins, etc.

Atlantipedia
   – “An A-Z Guide to the Study of Plato’s Atlantis”

Atlantipedia is the site of Tony O’Connell, an Irish researcher and author of the book Joining the Dots (2018), his study on the Atlantis question. His site contains an enormous index and corresponding pages of content that give extensive details on Atlantis researchers and their respective theories.  As examples there are pages devoted to researchers from Reginald Fessenden to Ronnie Gallagher to Graham Hancock, and places from Agartha to Crete to Tiahuanaco. It’s an impressive site to peruse, and I highly recommend it.

Atlantis Rising

The Atlantis Rising website is the current iteration of the former hard copy Atlantis Rising Magazine, which ran a quarter of a century, to mid 2019. The current editor and publisher is Douglas Kenyon, the author of Forbidden History (2005) and Forbidden Science (2008), both of which I recommend. Somehow, despite owning and reading both books above, I’m only just now discovering and perusing this site. Site visitors can become paying members, allowing access to extra content on the site, including archives of the hard copy’s articles from 2004 to 2019 at the “Atlantis Rising Archives” page.

Anthony F. Aveni

Dr. Anthony F. Aveni is the author of the well-known book, Skywatchers of Ancient Mexico (1980), which he revised and updated in the renamed book Skywatchers (2001). As per the homepage of his website: “Anthony F. Aveni is the Russell Colgate Distinguished Univesity Professor Emeritus of Astronomy, Anthropology, and Native American Studies, serving appointments in both Departments of Physics and Astronomy and Sociology and Anthropology at Colgate University, where he has taught since 1963. Dr. Aveny helped develop the field of archaeoastronomy and now is considered one of the founders of Mesoamerican archaeoastronomy, in particular for his research in the astronomical history of the Maya Indians of ancient Mexico.” Mark Carlotto references his work in Before Atlantis (2018).

Robert Bauval

Robert Bauval is the author of many excellent books on ancient Egypt. He’s perhaps best known for showing that the Pyramids of Giza are aligned on the ground in a mirror image of the belt stars of Orion, Alnitak, Alnilam, and Mintaka, as they appeared in ~10,000 BCE. He describes this in great detail in his book The Orion Mystery (1994), which he co-authored with Adrian Gilbert.

Thomas Brophy, PhD

Thomas Brophy is the former NASA physicist who analyzed and seemingly solved part of the mystery of the Egyptian megalithic circle, Nabtha Playa. He authored a book on his theory and his findings, The Origin Map (2002). The forward was written by Robert Schoch, and the afterward was written by John Anthony West. According to Mark Gaffney’s 2006 article, “The Astronomers of Nabta Playa – New Discoveries Reveal Astonishing Pre-Historic Knowledge”, in Atlantis Rising Magazine, Brophy wrote his own star mapping software and concluded that the site was an ancient star viewing platform, designed to be accurate for night sky viewing from 6400BCE to 4900 BCE. Brody is the current President of the California Institute for Human Science.

Mark Carlotto

Mark Carlotto did the original 3D rendering of the Face on Mars for/with Richard Hoagland, back in the 80s. Now he focuses on studying the alignments of major archaeological sites. He has found many that don’t look to be aligned to either the cardinal directions or to magnetic north of the current era. Putting stock in the work of Charles Hapgood and his Earth Crust Displacement Theory, Mark has shown that many ancient sites are aligned to Hapgood’s proposed past positions of the true geographic north pole. He has written professional papers on the subject as well as a book detailing his work, Before Atlantis: New Evidence of a Previous Technological Civilization (2018). On his website, on the “Media” page, he has posted the full 3-hr long interview of himself by Richard Hoagland on The Other Side of Midnight.

Description forthcoming…

David Hatcher Childress

David Hatcher Childress is the author of a multitude of books focusing on lost civilizations. He is a longtime world traveler, and is also a television regular, lately being regularly featured on the Ancient Aliens television show. His publishing company, Adventures Unlimited Press, features a huge number of books focusing on lost civilizations, UFOs, conspiracy, Bigfoot, and other alternative and arcane subject matter. His YouTube channel is Adventures Unlimited, with 150+ videos. David is also a regular speaker at conferences.

Christopher Dunn

Christopher Dunn is the author of the book The Giza Powerplant: Technologies of Ancient Egypt (1998). In it he theorizes and presents evidence to support his theory that the Great Pyramid of Giza is an enormous machine, one that was a power generating station. His work purportedly took him twenty years to complete. Beginning with the theory that the Great Pyramid is a machine, he approached the problem from an engineer’s point of view, realizing that he would have to determine the use of each and every major part of the structure, in the way that reverse engineering is tackled. His book is a compelling read. What stands out in my mind are the many examples he gives of machining marks appearing on many megalithic blocks found in Egypt. If read in detail and with an open mind the machining evidence makes the argument for sophisticated techniques being employed to shape and the build the Egyptian structures irrefutable. I highly recommend watching all the videos one can when he is on the ground in Egypt, carefully examining things in person. Christopher has his own website as well called GizaPower.

Cliff Dunning

Cliff Dunning is the host of the podcast, Earth Ancients. He also has a website of the same name, and he conducts tours to ancient sites in places such as Egypt and Mexico. His website has a clean look to it, and on the “Gallery” page there are photos from ancient sites that I assume Cliff has lead tours.

Reginald Fessenden

Reginald Fessenden was one of those brilliant and accomplished late 1800s / early 1900s American inventors who made huge technical breakthroughs and advances who ironically aren’t known by the modern public. In this vein, while reading about him I’m reminded more that a little of Filo Farnsworth. Fessenden was a Canadian born American early pioneer, inventor, engineer, and professor in the field of electrical engineering and radio. He was a contemporary of Tesla, Edison, and Marconi, having been at one point Edison’s head chemist. He also served as a professor of the Electrical Engineering Dept. at Purdue University, Indiana, USA and later as Professor, Post-Graduate Mathematics and Electrical Engineering, at the University of Pittsburgh, in Pennsylvania, USA. He made advances in AM radio, telegraphy, early radar, and was even the first person to transmit and receive two-way voice communication via radio. He had a great interest in the ancient history the Caucasus and theorized that the region was the location of Atlantis, authoring The Deluged Civilization of the Caucasus Isthmus (1923). According to Atlantipedia, the famous Egyptologist Sir William Flinders Petrie was interested in Fessenden’s writings and research, as per its tie-ins with Egypt, as the Caucasus is potentially the ancient Egyptians’ homeland. This last has been for years and is currently the work of Ronnie Gallagher, who is a contact of mine.

Rand Flem-Ath

Rand Flem-Ath is known (along with his wife, Rose) for theorizing Antarctica is Atlantis, based on his studying and furthering of Charles Hapgood’s Earth crust displacement theory. According to the Ancient Origins website, Rand was in contact with Hapgood before Hapgood’s death in 1982. Rand is known for co-authoring 3 books: Atlantis Beneath the Ice (1995), When the Sky Fell (1996), and The Atlantis Blueprint (2000). The Flem-Aths live in Canada.

Brien Foerster

Brien Foerster specializes in ancient Peru, Bolivia, and Mexico, ancient Polynesia, and ancient Jordan, Turkey, and Egypt, with a focus on finding and pointing out evidence of lost ancient high technology. He has authored 25+ books on these subjects (see his website for a complete list of books). However, he firmly believes in putting boots on the ground and is best known for the intensive tours he puts together, designed to take interested people directly to the ancient sites, thereby giving them a unique hands-on exploration experience. He is also well known for his YouTube videos, where he takes the viewers along with him, filming and viewing ancient sites up close and personal. I highly recommend checking out his YouTube channel, Brien Foerster, where he has over 1200 videos and over a quarter of a million subscribers. It’s top notch. Brien also actively presents at many conferences.

Mark Gaffney

Mark Gaffney is a researcher and author whose most recent book is Deep History and the Ages of Man (2020). I have it on order and have not read this yet, but it is in support of Charles Hapgood’s Earth crust displacement theory, allegedly presenting new supporting evidence. Mark Gaffney’s background can be found at his website’s “Biography” page, and articles by Mark can be found at his website and at Graham Hancock’s site. One intriguing article of his, on Egypt’s Nabta Playa, and from Atlantis Rising Magazine, I have saved in pdf here. Mark Carlotto references Gaffney’s work both on his own site and in his book, Before Atlantis: New Evidence of a Previous Technological Civilization (2018).

Ronnie Gallagher

Ronnie Gallagher is a retired petroleum geologist who lived and worked for a substantial amount of time in Baku, Azerbaijan. Moonlighting as an amateur archeologist, he spent many dedicated weekends over the years exploring and studying the ancient sites of the Absheron Peninsula, on the Caspian Sea, including “cart ruts,” the Gobustan rock engravings, mud volcanoes, and massive anthropomorphic rock art. A primary interest of his are the ancient high stand marks of the Caspian Sea on the surrounding Absheron Peninsula mountains. Ronnie has significant reason to think that the Caucasus region is the origination area of the ancient Egyptians. Ronnie has been kind enough to share with me much of his work, and I will be making a dedicated site page for his work

Great Pyramid of Giza Research Association

   – John DeSalvo, Ph.D – Director
   – www.gizapyramid.com

This is an organization of professionals that focuses exclusively on the Great Pyramid, providing both known facts and new research. Its website contains a staggering amount of general articles and research articles written by a multitude of researchers. The association’s advisory board is made up of ~30 professionals and researchers from all over the world. Amongst these are recognizable figures including Christopher Dunn, Joseph Farrell, David Hatcher Childress, and the late John Anthony West.

Keith Hamilton

Keith has, on his site, downloadable PDF’s that are simply fantastic. Each PDF is dedicated to a specific monument in Egypt, detailing with both top notch photos and loads of text. For example, the PDF on the Pyramid of Menkaure (the third Giza pyramid) is 92 pages long and has 80+ images and diagrams. This is a site not to be missed by anyone interested in ancient Egyptian megalithic structures.

Graham Hancock

Graham Hancock is a rockstar in the alternative movement of today, teaching how the human race has a long lost glorious past that was forgotten in all but myths and ruins, due to monumental cataclysm. He is the author of such groundbreaking books as The Sign and the Seal, where he worked to track down the fate and location of the Ark of the Covenant, and Underworld, where he takes the reader with him to explore submerged cities the oceans swallowed up at the end of the last ice age. However, his most renowned book is Fingerprints of the Gods, where he outlines the evidence for a lost worldwide civilization from mankind’s past, which met its fate during the 300 feet rise in sea levels following the melting of the ice age ice caps. Graham is an active speaker, presenting at multiple conferences each year. I’ve met him, and he is a first rate guy. I can’t recommend him enough.

Richard C. Hoagland

Richard Hoagland is very well known for authoring The Monuments of Mars: A City on the Edge of Forever (1987), the original book to make the case for the Face on Mars being a remnant of a long lost civilization. Through his older website, Enterprise Mission, he also has shown loads of evidence of how NASA missions have been timed to coincide with anniversaries of ancient events and to astronomical and astrological heavenly body positions. Hoagland made many appearances on Coast to Coast over the years, and now he has his own show, The Other Side of Midnight.

Douglas Kenyon

Douglas Kenyon is the editor and publisher of the Atlantis Rising website, the current form of the former hardcopy Atlantis Rising Magazine. He is also the author of the well-known books Forbidden History (2005) and Forbidden Science (2008). The “About” page of the Atlantis Rising website has a pic of Douglas at the bottom.

Praveen Mohan

Praveen Mohan explores ancient Hindu temples, primarily in India but also in nearby countries. He goes on-site, taking high resolution videos of the exterior and interior of temples, focusing on examples of ancient technology such as evidence of machining and seeming anachronisms found on many carvings. He combines his on-site recorded video with voice-over done after the fact, giving the viewer many details that would otherwise be missed with a live-only recording. The end result are extremely eye-opening and informative presentations of Hindu temples that really can’t be found anywhere else. It’s also a boon to the viewer that Praveen himself comes across as extremely friendly and humble. I very highly recommend Praveen’s work. So far, to my knowledge, it’s only available on YouTube. However, as of December, 2020 YouTube has been taking down Praveen’s videos. Hopefully he will develop his own website soon, move to an alternative video sharing site, or both.

Hugh Newman is the author of books on ancient mysteries such as Earth Grids: The Secret Pattern of Gaia’s Sacred Sites (2008) and Stone Circles (2017). He’s been on multiple TV programs is also a video producer. He also organizes the Megolithomania tours and conferences. I recommend checking out his info on his website, Megolithomania.

Tony O’Connell

Tony O’Connell is an Irish researcher and author of the book Joining the Dots (2018), his study on the Atlantis question. His website, Atlantipedia, contains an enormous index and corresponding pages of content that give extensive details on Atlantis researchers and their respective theories.  As examples there are pages devoted to researchers from Reginald Fessenden to Ronnie Gallagher to Graham Hancock, and places from Agartha to Crete to Tiahuanaco. It’s an impressive site to peruse, and I highly recommend it.

ORACUL

ORACUL is a non-for-profit organization, co-founded by Robert Schoch, that, according to Schoch’s website, is “…dedicated to the scientific study of civilization’s origins.” As per ORACUL’s “About Us” page on its site, its mission is: “The scientific debate surrounding the origins of human civilization is far from settled. Independent research by scholars and professionals in the hard sciences has begun to challenge the accepted narrative of civilization’s beginnings. Today, there is a large body of evidence from a myriad of fields which argues convincingly for a revision of that narrative – pushing back the timeline for advanced culture by thousands of years. Opposed by many orthodox scholars (whose interests are served by maintaining the status quo), serious scientists and professionals who attempt to bring attention to this contrary evidence are often ignored and ridiculed. Handicapped by a lack of funding, publicity, and professional networking, breakthrough research related to ancient cultures continues to languish in relative obscurity. ORACUL works to bring this existing research to the attention of both the academic community and the public, as well as conducting new investigations into ancient cultures. This pioneering research involves not only professionals in the hard sciences, but also serious, out-of-the-box thinking in other disciplines. ORACUL will accomplish this goal by focusing on three primary areas of activity: Research Advocacy, Publishing, and Educational Outreach.”

Robert Schoch

Robert Schoch is widely known as the geologist who first recognized that the erosion on the sandstone enclosure around the Great Sphinx is from water, rather than from wind. As the Sahara is known to have been extremely arid for the last 5000 years, in the early 1990’s this drastically pushed back the timeline for civilization’s beginnings. He is a long-time professor at Boston University, and he earned his Ph.D. in geology and geophysics at Yale. He is the author of several books, including Forgotten Civilization: The Role of Solar Outbursts in Our Past and Future (2012). Schoch is also a co-founder of ORACUL (Organization for the Research of Ancient Cultures), which, according to his site, is “a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization dedicated to the scientific study of civilization’s origins.”

Freddy Silva

Freddy Silva has been studying the lost worldwide civilization for ~20 years, and he is the author of 6 books: The Missing Lands: Uncovering Earth’s Pre-flood Civilization (2019), The Divine Blueprint: Temples, Power Places, and the Global Plan to Shape the Human Soul, 4th ed (2012), First Templar Nation: How Eleven Knights Created a New Country and a Refuge for the Grail, 2nd ed (2017), The Lost Art of Resurrection: Initiation, Secret Chambers, and the Quest for the Otherworld (2014), Secrets in the Fields: The Science and Mysticism of Crop Circles (2002), and Chartres Cathedral: The Missing or Heretic Guide (2015). As I understand, similarly to Brian Foerster, he conducts group visits to ancient sites. He’s the guest on the June 21st, 2020 episode of Forum Borealis, “Absent Lands & Children of Anu.” According to his website: “Freddy Silva is a best-selling author, and leading researcher of ancient civilizations, restricted history, sacred sites and their interaction with consciousness. He is also a leading expert on crop circles. He has published six books in six languages. Described by one CEO as “perhaps the best metaphysical speaker in the world right now,” for two decades he has been an international keynote speaker, with notable appearances at the International Science and Consciousness Conference, the International Society For The Study Of Subtle Energies & Energy Medicine, and the Association for Research and Enlightenment, in addition to appearances on Gaia TV, History Channel, BBC, and radio shows such as Coast To Coast. He is also a documentary filmmaker, art photographer, and leads private tours to sacred sites in England, France, Egypt, Portugal, Yucatan, Malta, Peru/Bolivia, and Scotland.”

Zecharia Sitchin

To many, Sitchin needs no introduction. He was the scholar, researcher, and author who learned cuneiform and translated many of the ancient Sumerian texts himself, arriving at the theory that the Annunaki spoken of in the texts were mankind’s genetic creators and original “gods”. He authored many books on the subject, central of which is the 7-title Earth Chronicles series, consisting of The 12th Planet (1976), The Stairway to Heaven (1980), The Wars of Gods and Men (1985), The Lost Realms (1990), When Time Began (1993), The Cosmic Code (1998), and The End of Days (2007). Sitchin was born in Baku, Azerbaijan in 1920 and died in New York City, in 2010.

UnchartedX

   – Ben Van Kerkwyk
   – www.unchartedx.com
   – YouTube: UnchartedX
                        UnchartedXLive

Ben Van Kerkwyk does a phenomenal job narrating his personal visits to ancient structures around the world. He has a large following, with 145,000 subscribers to his YouTube channel alone (as of 2020-12-13). He also has a well done website, hosts his own podcast, and co-directs planned tours to locations such as Egypt. The podcast and trip info can be found on his site. I very highly recommend at least watching his YouTube videos. As per his YouTube “About” page: “I’m a long-time student and fan of history. I’ve spent a lot of time throughout my life travelling to, photographing and filming ancient sites all around the world, and (more recently) interviewing and talking to many of the leading researchers and authors, many of whom are working to uncover the true origins of the mystery that is our past. I believe there is a need for high quality content that addresses the new science and new discoveries that should affect how we view the past, and to examine the contradictions that are clearly evident on ancient sites, and in our orthodox version of history. I hope you’ll join me on this journey! I try to publish at least 1-2 well researched pieces per month, and also other less structured content, podcasts/interviews and the like…”

Colin Wilson

   –

Colin Wilson was a very prolific writer; in the alternative realm he is known for co-authoring The Atlantis Blueprint (2000) with Rand Flem-Ath. He also authored Atlantis and the Kingdom of the Neanderthals (2006).
